Bam bam Bigelow, it’s been a scary, fun, adventurous month. lots of new people I have been working with on various fronts. Lots of news and things taking shape from all the hard efforts of the projects I worked on the past 2 years finally coming to fruition.
Mercury in retrograde and is finally coming out of it and so should you. I haven’t let the slowness of the early part of this year get to me and have used it to get some great foundation for the year and to get rid of all things not useful especially in my house. I love keeping all kinds of things and for the past 5 weeks have done 2 big projects on my house each week. it’s really fun and has already opened up my whole life to a little more inviting and new things. more job opportunities, new ideas for films, new ways of looking at problems, new relationships, friendships and all those ships, and even new sweet smells. hahaha that sounds weird but A) the paint we used smelled like some weird candy and I got new cleaning stuff which gave the house the beginnings of a new vibe.
One of the new things in my life currently is an Acting Career Coach named Dallas Travers. If you haven’t already heard of her she is the cat’s pajamas. I love the craft of acting, I’m also crazy pro active but always on my terms. I’m not soo crazy about “marketing myself”, spending gallons of gas and cash on going to a million different casting director/agent/ producer/writing in the new media/how to make a webisode Workshop/s. Where do I freakin’ start and which ones are total b.s. and which aren’t. A big number of you have told me the same exact thing. So I’m taking some of the guess-work out and have been working with Dallas on a number of things getting real specific on how to begin carving out my ideal approach.
“When you are clear about what you want it’s hard for people who aren’t to stick around” – Dallas
man that’s good stuff. People are coming forward and some stepping back in my life because of the clarity of where I’m coming from now more than ever. It takes a lot of the work out of it for you just setting the intention. I take that idea to Yoga and meditation each week also. How can you simplify your life right now? If your like me and miss being a Dj, still trying to do that Photography table book project, and all the rest of the hobbies. Make a schedule and Group some of the things you have to do each week in sections like Tuesday Marketing/networking and monday is a big fix the house and bills/laundry type of day so i don’t have that guilt hanging over my head all week. Maybe even put one of your passions in the backdrop for a few months. The funny thing is I’m still producing/directing but my acting isn’t suffering for it and addressing the fact that acting needs the most support right now is making the whole hubstation more powerful. A tripod needs three strong legs not 2 and a half.
I also have an accountability partner who I talk to every day just about and we email each other a to-do list every 2 days and that has helped me do even further soul searching about the fact that this is a job not just “Hey man I’ve been acting 15 years and everyone should give me a hug and cookie and a job for that!’
NOOOOooo, much more has to be done.. I would say 80 percent of hollywood is the business side. how much business of your career do you spend each week?
Excited many of the films I was in and or produced are getting great reviews at Cannes and my first project ever in The Hollywood Reporter! I was asked to work on a film school buddies film a while back and was very glad I did, because they worked hard and are now getting some great feedback on the hard work we all did. be sure to go the news section to peep some of the cool stuff goin on. thanks and see you next month!!
